Every year, Formula SAE puts the best and brightest student engineers from universities around the world on the racetrack. In the highly demanding competition, the students must design, build and test a prototype race car. This year, 11 of the 80 student teams expected to compete come from a CSU.
Teams from Chico, Fresno, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, Pomona, Sacramento, San Diego, San José State and San Luis Obispo will be heading to the Formula SAE in Lincoln, Nebraska June 19-22.
This year, teams from Cal Poly SLO and Cal Poly Pomona, and San José State will also be participating in the first ever all-electric Formula SAE competition.
SAE promotes excellence in engineering as it encompasses all aspects of the automotive industry: research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management and finance.
