The CSU Hospitality Management Education Initiative met with state leaders to lobby support for hospitality education during CSU Hospitality Lobby Day in Sacramento on January 29. Along with executives from Visit California, the California Restaurant Association and the California Hotel & Lodging Association, representatives from the CSU met with numerous members of the Assembly, Senate and the Governor’s Office to demonstrate the impact the CSU has on the state’s multi-billion dollar hospitality industry.

Industry leaders and CSU ambassadors—including Chancellor Timothy P. White, campus presidents and officials, trustees and hospitality students—reinforced the message that the hospitality industry is vital to the state’s economy and it depends on the CSU to provide an uninterrupted supply of hospitality leaders.

CSU Hospitality Lobby Day is one of many efforts that the CSU Hospitality Management Education Initiative has implemented to help prepare students for meaningful careers in California’s hospitality industry. In addition to forging ties with legislators, the initiative works with key industry leaders and 14 CSU campuses to create future hospitality professionals.
