How to Prepare for College During High School

Posted by Arzoo

High School to college is a huge stepping-stone and it is very important to be well prepared for it. High school students can prepare by researching different schools both in state and out of state to branch out. They should look at school locations, programs, degrees, and housing. Once you have a list of schools you should always check out the campus. Usually schools hold preview days, information sessions or personal campus tours for prospective students. Organization is the key for college applications; it’s crucial to have all the important dates written down and completing all the required documents. Other than preparation, students should be engaged in the high school and build relationships with teachers. They give great advice and become good recommendation letters.

Senior year can be one of the most stressful but memorable times of our lives. From applying to different colleges, maintaining high grades to senior events, it is one hectic year. Utilizing our time to organize and refresh ourselves can be achieved through breaks such as winter or spring breaks. This is a time where you can think about organizing your summer into a productive one. You can look for different volunteering opportunities around your community. Or use this time as an opportunity to look into the different clubs, organizations or sororities you plan on joining. Extra time like these breaks can help balance out the stress, so use your time wisely.

Graduation

Posted by Xiomara

This is probably the most heartfelt ceremony for you, your friends and your family because it means “goodbye high school, hello college.” You know what school you are going to attend, but thats pretty much all you know; you have no idea what to do, where to start or what to ask. But don’t worry, you are definitely not alone. High school is a different experience for everyone, but it is a vital part of everyone’s life because it is the phase that influences what life will have in store for you. Graduation is a very important day because it represents your struggle for the past 4 years and it is also initiates the adult life you are about to pursue. I suggest planning for graduation on the first day of school. Complete those 4 years strong knowing that you gave it your best. Do well so that when you receive your diploma, you know you are being rewarded for your hard work. Graduation is an indication that you are ready to move on to bigger and better things so cry, but cry of happiness. It is a very special day so make it worth it. After that, only great things are ahead of you.
