How to Prepare for College During High School

Posted by Arzoo

High School to college is a huge stepping-stone and it is very important to be well prepared for it. High school students can prepare by researching different schools both in state and out of state to branch out. They should look at school locations, programs, degrees, and housing. Once you have a list of schools you should always check out the campus. Usually schools hold preview days, information sessions or personal campus tours for prospective students. Organization is the key for college applications; it’s crucial to have all the important dates written down and completing all the required documents. Other than preparation, students should be engaged in the high school and build relationships with teachers. They give great advice and become good recommendation letters.

Don’t Let Senioritis Get to You!

Posted by Mireille Garcia Serrato

Seniors! This is your last year of high school and that means you should end it with good grades!

Although it may seem like there are still months of school left, don’t let that fool you. Homecoming is right around the corner, the semester is almost at its end, prom will be here soon, and the next thing you know, you’re walking up the stage to pick up your diploma. Time will fly by so quickly without you even noticing it.

Remember it is important to keep your grades up for college admission. The CSU campuses require you to maintain your GPA throughout your senior year. Show the colleges that you applied to that you are still academically prepared for university-level courses. Eventually, when the time comes to submit your final senior year grades, you can be proud of what you have accomplished. This is your last year and that means make it the best possible, and that includes your grades!

Get Ready for Admission Decisions

Posted by Mireille Garcia Serrato

Some of you may have already heard back from the colleges and universities you applied to. Congratulations! For those who haven’t, you should be receiving your responses throughout the spring. As you wait for your admission decisions, your main focus should be to continue keeping up with the new semester and maintaining good grades (that means C’s and above).

Many colleges require you to pass your classes with a C or above. Most also require you to maintain your GPA and although this can sound stressful, it is important for you to try your best. Sometimes if you receive a grade lower than a C, your admission can be at risk. Doing well in your classes is essential to maintaining your acceptance if you have already heard back from campuses. And when you do hear back, remember to stay motivated, do well academically, reach out and explore the campuses!
