Student Fees and Financial Aid
The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.
A fee increase will be considered at the July 21 CSU Board of Trustees Board meeting as part of the effort to address a $584 deficit for 2009-10. The following additional yearly fee increase effective fall 2009 will be voted on by the Board:
-
Undergraduate Student – $672
-
Graduate Student – $828
-
Teaching Credential Student – $780
-
Non-Resident Student – $372
Fees listed are for the full academic year for full-time students.

Financial Aid
The university will set aside one-third of the fee revenue for financial aid. In addition, the CSU is the largest recipient of Pell Awards. The federal stimulus package increased the maximum Pell grants, and as a result, will receive an additional $81 million in aid for its neediest students. Also, the federal stimulus package expanded tax credits for university fees, which are available for family incomes of up to $180,000. In total, the CSU estimates more than 187,000 undergraduate students will be covered dollar-for-dollar for the full fee increase (including the increase approved last May) by some form of university, state or federal financial aid.
