Tuition and Fees

The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Tuition fees and fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, the CSU must reserve the right, even after initial tuition fee and fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed tuition fees or fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed tuition fees and fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.

In January 2011, the CSU moved to change the terminology used to refer to certain charges assessed to students from “tuition” to “tuition fee.” The CSU will continue to use the term “fee” for those special charges that support student government or student unions among others. The term “tuition fee” more accurately describes the use of revenue, which supports the basic needs of the academic programs, student services, student financial aid, libraries, technology and other areas of institutional support and maintenance of instructional facilities. This change is only a change in terminology and will not impact students.
